Injections for Fine Lines and Wrinkles

For over 30 years, Botulinum toxin injections have been safely used in conventional medicine and for cosmetic therapy. Today, Botulinum toxin has been used by over 1 million patients worldwide as a safe and effective non-surgical cosmetic treatment to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

A minute amount of Botulinum toxin is injected directly into the wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet using a very small needle to temporarily relax the facial muscles. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the overactive muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles through repeatedly contracting and fracturing the skin.

You only feel a few tiny pin prick injections, so there is no need for sedatives or a local anaesthetic.

Botulinum toxin can also be used to treat excessive sweating or perspiration, otherwise known as Hyperhidrosis, which is caused by the stimulation of the sweat glands by nerve endings. Through injections of Botulinum toxin into the problem area, the nerve impulses are blocked, preventing sweating for several months at a time, with visible results within days.

The Botulinum toxin injection procedure involves several tiny pin prick injections of Botulinum toxin with minimal discomfort. It only takes 15 minutes and because no anaesthetic is required, you can return to your normal day-to-day activities immediately.

You will start to see results 24-72 hours after treatment with the main effect apparent after 7-12 days. Your face will look smoother, younger and more relaxed.

Although the results are visible, a Botulinum toxin treatment will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look unnatural if done properly.

Although it varies from patient to patient, the results usually last for three to four months and fade gradually. You can repeat the treatment every four months and repeated treatments cause weakening of the muscles resulting in longer lasting results. You may find that treated lines and wrinkles become less deep, and you can leave longer intervals between treatments.
